EdW - Entschädigungseinrichtung der Wertpapierhandelsunternehmen

The EdW was established as a federal special fund without legal capacity with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).

Currently the "Federal Financial Supervisory Authority " (BaFin - Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht) has assigned 780 securities trading companies to the EdW (as of September 2008).

The funds required to make compensations and to cover administrative costs are provided from the contributions paid by the securities trading companies affiliated to the fund.
